        Today's society is not all on the same page when it comes to tattoo's. In some area's of life, tattoos are accepted. For example, celebrities and basketball players are able to get them without consequence. They are somehow above the standard of the normal person, who may suffer from public ridicule as a result, as the text suggests,"Even as tattooing becomes more prevalent in the USA, there is still a persistent taboo on tattoos.     Yet, in other areas of life, away from the social rules society presents us with, tattoo's can be celebrated and used as tools to distinguish oneself or important parts of life. The text demonstrates the positive message that tattoos can represent, "The expanding popularity of tattoos seems to be based on the fact that these can serve various purposes for different individuals. Some use them as a fashion tool whereas others use them as a method of identity formation, such as commemorating a lost loved one or representing one's neighborhood."
